Carbon Corridors and Conversations: How Do We Realise Danish-German Cross-Border CO2 Infrastructure?
Denmark and Germany are entering a decisive phase of cooperation on carbon management. With Germany having ratified the amendment to the London Protocol, the legal basis is now in place to establish a bilateral agreement on the cross-border transport and storage of CO2. Together with Germany’s upcoming Carbon Management Action Plan, a bilateral agreement could create an important opportunity to turn political ambition into practical cooperation.
The next step is to connect the relevant projects, infrastructure and partners across the value chain. German industry will need reliable solutions for transporting captured CO2 to storage sites, while Denmark offers established maritime infrastructure and significant storage potential. As a major port city and industrial centre, Hamburg can play a central role in connecting German CO2 sources with Danish transport and storage infrastructure.
Against this backdrop, the Royal Danish Embassy in Berlin and the Carbon Management Allianz cordially invite decision-makers and stakeholders from across the CO2 value chain to join the discussion on how Danish and German partners can develop reliable and commercially viable cross-border CO2 infrastructure.
Following the discussion, we warmly invite you to continue the conversation over drinks and snacks during a networking reception at the Danish Consulate General in Hamburg.
Date: Tuesday, 20 October 2026, 17:00
Location: Danish Consulate General in Hamburg, Glockengießerwall 2, 20095 Hamburg
